Here’s what Les Mills has to say about GRIT Strength:

Grit Strength is a High Intensity Interval Training workout (HIIT = repeated bouts of exercise of short to moderate duration at an intensity above your anaerobic threshold followed by periods of recovery). Your anaerobic threshold is the point in intensity where you use a lower percentage of oxygen to burn energy for fuel and access your chemical reserves stored within the muscles. There are four key benefits that differentiate this type of training from others:

High Intensity Training is the key to unlocking Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC). When you exercise at high intensity you keep burning calories after the workout because of the EPOC effect – also known as the after-burn.

High intensity exercise has been shown to be more effective for fat loss than low intensity exercise.

Exercise intensity has been directly related to growth hormone production – ie, the higher the intensity, the greater the production of growth hormones. Human growth hormone stimulates muscle protein synthesis, and helps oxidation of fat – resulting in an increase in lean muscle and a reduction in fat.

Les Mills RPM

RPM is the indoor cycling workout where you ride to the rhythm of powerful music. Take on the terrain with your inspiring team coach who leads the pack through hills, flats, mountain peaks, time trials, and interval training. Discover your athlete within - sweat and burn to reach your endorphin high whilst increasing cardiovascular fitness, burning fat and toning your legs, butt and thighs.

Each 45 minute class burns up to 600 calories, and consists of a warm up with light resistance at an easy pace before speed and intensity increases towards your top personal pace. You’ll then hit a series of full-on hill climbs that test your strength and cycling time trials that test your endurance. There will be time for recovery, just enough to give you the energy to push through the next challenge. At the end of the class you will finish the journey and ride home together. Recovery is the name of the game, including the all-important stretch.

Boxing Circuit

This boxing-style workout alternates between drills, shadow boxing and sparring to build your confidence and co-ordination whilst improving cardio conditioning. In just a few sessions you’ll see fat loss and increased muscle definition in both the upper and lower body, plus improved agility and strength.

Starting with 15 minutes of boxing-focused cardio (skip rope, agility ladder and shadow boxing) to ‘get the feet moving’, we’ll then move into 35-40 minutes of intense drills, where you will learn how to piece together a set of jabs, crosses, hooks and upper cuts like a pro! Finishing with strength training, you’ll acquire the basic power, agility and endurance trained in all boxing champs.

Some hand wraps and gloves are available, although it is advisable to bring your own for comfort and hygiene! The HIT Room has a selection of these items for purchase if required. Suitable for all fitness and experience levels.

SPIN

Spin

Spin is a freestyle indoor cardio-based cycling program designed to burn over 700 calories and get you fit in no time. Riding to a variety of terrain, programmed to addictive tunes and awesome beats, we closely simulate a surreal experience in an extremely energetic atmosphere created by dramatic lighting and sound effects. Sometimes, it may even feel like you're rocking in a club instead of sweating it out in a class!

Your experienced instructor will guide you throughout the ride, whilst addressing technique, posture, resistance and pace. Throughout the workout phases we warm-up, then build intensity with steady tempo cadences or resistance-based hill climbs, contrasting with sprints, drills, intervals and mountains, before finishing on a slightly more challenging track, which is then rewarded with a cool-down and stretch.

Spin is a low-impact and relatively stationary exercise, and is a highly effective exercise program - you control the resistance and speed on your own bike to tailor your workout to the level you are comfortable with, allowing Spin to be suitable to all fitness levels.
